When we first dreamed of Flash, the Caribbean was overlooked by financial technology innovation. We saw people paying excessive fees to send money to family, businesses struggling to accept digital payments, and communities left behind in the global digital economy.
2021: The Vision Takes Shape
We went to El Salvador and saw a future where anyone with a smartphone had the power of a bank in their pocket without needing a traditional bank account. Bitcoin and the Lightning Network offered the perfect technology foundation — instant, nearly free transactions that work across borders.
2022: Building the Foundation
We assembled a team of passionate technologists and financial experts who believe in our region's potential. With a focus on building open-source technology that empowers rather than restricts, we started in Jamaica with a proof of concept with simplicity and accessibility as our guiding principles.
2024: Finding Our Community
Flash quickly found resonance in Jamaican communities. From small business owners to students to families wanting to pay for lunch easily, people discovered that Bitcoin solved real problems in their daily lives. Our community grew as users tested out platform and shared their experiences with us, providing valuable feedback to improve the product.
2025: Expanding Our Impact
Today, Flash is connecting hundreds of Jamaican residents and businesses through Bitcoin. We've built partnerships with merchants across the region, created educational resources to help newcomers understand Bitcoin, and continue to develop new features and rewards programs that solve real financial challenges.
