Our hearts go out to all affected by the devastation of hurricane Melissa across Jamaica and the Caribbean. Members of our team are volunteering to assist and we are in communication with official agencies to support Hurricane Melissa relief efforts across Jamaica. The link belew is a citizen led incident reporting platform that may serve as a central hub for incident reporting, resource coordination, and emergency communications.

Hurricane Melissa has caused significant damage across multiple parishes. Current active relief efforts include:

  • • Government Coordination: Official Government Platform supportjamaica.gov.jm
  • • Search & Rescue: DART and USRT teams deployed from the United States
  • • Emergency Food Services: World Central Kitchen providing meals to affected communities
  • • Communications Infrastructure: Private sector partnerships for connectivity restoration (Starlink, Amazon Web Services)

PRIORITY NEED: Food distribution to displaced residents in severely affected western and northern parishes remains our immediate focus.

Please report any urgent incidents to the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) to ensure all incident reports receive immediate attention. Our infrastructure will also enable real-time coordination between relief organizations, government agencies, and affected communities using a public Ushahidi map platform.
